When thinking about Katy tradition and music - my first thoughts are Country Music - Toby Keith for example. Just watched Toby on FoxNews - there is no one more relaxed than Toby.
But, Katy music is not just country - recently, I was at Academy - that's were we go to get our hunting, camping and all other kinds of sporting equipment - and, in the background I heard music. Was it country music? No way - it was my favorite rock band Blue October 
. And the song was 'Into The Ocean'.

Some of the best information about Katy comes to us from Roberta Wright Rylander in a book she wrote in 1991, 'Applauding the Past in Katy, Texas'. If anyone knows where I can get a copy of the book - let me know.
Ms. Rylander states that, 'The name Katy was taken from the log of the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad. In short it was referred to as the M-K-T. These letters were used to form the word Katy. Thus, the town of Katy, Texas was born.
But to understand the 'spirit' of Katy I recommend, Dexter Clay's 'Katy Nation'. 
Katy Texas is about tradition and, part of that tradition is 'Team Spirit'. When Katy High School has a football game (click on Katy City Limit Events for the football schedule) everyone shows spirit. And where in Katy can you go to get team spirit?
